Naples, Florida is a polished Gulf Coast destination known for its upscale coastal vibe, powder-soft white sand beaches, golf resorts, and warm, sunny weather. The city blends luxury with natural beauty—morning beach walks often give way to afternoons exploring downtown streets, especially around Fifth Avenue South and Third Street South, where you’ll find boutiques, cafés, art galleries, and outdoor dining tucked under palm-lined sidewalks.
Beyond the downtown charm, Naples is surrounded by some of Southwest Florida’s most beautiful natural spaces. Spots like Naples Pier offer classic sunset views over the Gulf (the pier is currently under renovation), while nearby beaches and parks feel tucked away and peaceful. What makes Naples stand out is the balance: it feels refined and luxe yet laid-back. It’s the kind of place where one day never feels like quite enough, but if you play your cards right, you can still get the most out of your day in the “Naples of America.”
Here’s how:
Start your day on Fifth Avenue South. Here you’ll find luxury shops and dining destinations for all palettes (and wallets!). Palm-lined sidewalks guide you past boutique shops, art galleries, and open-air cafés where people linger over coffee or a late lunch without any rush. There’s a quiet luxury to it all—designer storefronts sit alongside locally-owned shops, and everything feels intentionally walkable. It’s easy to drift from store to store without a set plan, just enjoying the Florida sunshine and the easygoing rhythm of the city.

For lunch, you have a few options depending on what you’re in the mood for. If you’re looking for a local favorite that’s got a unique menu and will take you on a gastronomic adventure, then Bicyclette Cookshop is where you’ll want to go. Helmed by chef Kayla Pfeiffer, the menu is playful and dynamic (think: caviar paired with Bugles & creme fraiche, rolled chicken flautas, and onion soup croutons). And—at the height of crawfish season—there’s chef Kayla’s take on the Southern staple: a crawfish katsu sando with pickled okra. I can confirm, it’s delicious and packed full of flavor. If a laid-back beach bar is more your speed, HB’s at the Four Seasons is where you should book a reservation. Comfortably casual, this Naples seafood spot features local catch, raw-bar selections, and deliciously prepared crudo. The drinks are fabulous and both the vibe and the views are pretty spectacular.

After lunch stroll the Naples City Dock and if you’re up for it, a drink at the Dock at Crayton Cove. Naples’ original waterfront restaurant, this institution is known for its laid-back vibe, fresh seafood, and tropical cocktails. A taste of the islands, if you will, no passport required. From there you can explore Third Street South for some more shopping, walk the sandy beaches, or if you’re a foodie like me, hop on the water shuttle from the dock to the Naples Bay Resort & Marina for an early dinner at Blackbird Modern Asian. Blackbird Modern Asian in Naples is a vibrant dining destination that fuses contemporary Asian cuisine with elevated design, seductive cocktails, and a lively, upscale atmosphere. Led by award-winning Chef Tim Nickey, the menu blends classic Asian influences with modern techniques, with menu standouts like dim sum, Bangkok street noodles, and tuna poke crispy rice. Pro tip: the restaurant is very popular so I recommend making a reservation or getting there a few minutes before opening for a bar seat during happy hour.

No day in Naples is complete without a sunset, and here, they are stunning. Walk all the way west down Fifth Avenue South until you hit beachfront access (walking is recommended as there is hardly any parking near the beach access point) and with you, will be a pilgrimage of folks looking to do the same thing: soak in a Gulf of Mexico sunset with hues of pinks, oranges, and reds.

After the sun fully sets, meander back down to the shopping and restaurant district for a nightcap. My favorite spot for a sipper is Le Colonial, where the vibe captures a romantic, old-world elegance inspired by 1920s–30s French Indochina, blending tropical lushness with sophistication. The space is warm and moody, filled with palm fronds, soft golden lighting, and natural materials like rattan and dark wood. Another option I can’t pass up is Del Mar, a Naples staple that is well-loved and known by locals and tourists alike. Request a seat on their upper balcony overlooking the street below and snack on Mediterranean-style tapas while sipping a 5th Avenue margarita or beach party spritz.

Of course, a full beach day plus a few days to thoroughly explore Naples is preferable, but if you only have one day to explore this charming seaside city, you can still capture its essence regardless of time constraints by leaning into its everything it has to offer: indulgent meals, a bit of wandering, and stunning sunsets.
