Few things nourish the soul quite like a trip with your girls, and Tupelo, Mississippi, is one of the best sleeper hits of the South. Situated right off the Natchez Trace Parkway, Tupelo is complete with charming restaurants, cute places to shop till you drop, and plenty of opportunities for a sweet treat or bite to eat.

Tupelo is more than the birthplace of Elvis Presley, and this guide proves there’s much to discover with your girl gang.

Rise & Shine

Get your day going with a caffeine kick at Strange Brew Coffeehouse. Their menu features several creative latte flavor combinations and even a few gluten-free and vegan baked goods.

For a sweeter start, visit Crave, a dessert cafe with a gourmet coffee bar. The inside is perfect for a photo opp, and their sweet treats are hard to beat–cinnamon rolls are non-negotiable. If you’re in the mood for a more traditional Southern brunch experience post-coffee, Sweet Tea & Biscuits Cafe, a family-owned and operated eatery, is the place for you. They offer classic Southern favorites from passed-down recipes and are well known for their chicken salad and fried green tomato BLT.

Snap the Perfect Photo

With plenty of mural sites sprinkled throughout the city, your social media feed will thank you during that post-trip photo dump. The Book Stack mural is perfect for the avid readers, the Buy Local Produce mural is a beautiful ode to farmers markets, and, of course, you can’t miss the Icehouse Elvis mural while visiting his birthplace.

Shop Antiques & Boutiques

When you’re done snapping photos, old souls can visit some of the antique stores, such as the Tupelo Antique Market, Presley Heights Antique Mall, or Relics Antique Marketplace, to collect an extra-special souvenir. If boutiques and retail stores are more your speed, spend a few hours perusing the downtown shopping district

When your wallet has had enough, hop on the Natchez Trace Parkway where you can hike, sightsee, and scout beautiful flora and fauna in the surrounding area.

Eat, Drink, and Hit the Hay

To start your night on the town, stop by Queen’s Reward Meadery and toast to friendship with a flight of mead. Or, grab a boozy slushie made with mead and play a round of yard games at golden hour.

End your evening with dinner at Jobos, a surf and turf-inspired restaurant that pulls its seafood directly from the Mississippi Gulf. Their menu is full of different flavors and cuisines, but the pork belly tacos are not to be missed. For a nightcap, order The Daisy, a blend of tequila, citrus juice, Triple Sec, and a salty Tajin rim. Convenience is key, so take the elevator right up to your hotel room, as Jobos is located on the first floor of Hotel Tupelo. It’s the perfect girls’ trip stay with a blend of modern-boutique and classic rock-inspired digs.
