Fall is officially here, and the cocktail menu is following right behind it. Cinnamon, apple cider, and bourbon are taking over menus at pop-up bars and in my own rotation, squeezing out the last of summer’s bright flavors and fresh produce.
If you, like me, are ready to make the switch, Jennifer Brian, mixologist behind Make & Muddle and The Classic Cocktail Revival, says the margarita is the place to start. It keeps everything you love about a classic margarita and adds a crisp apple cider and lemon-lime twist. Reposado tequila and Make & Muddle 4 Tea Tonic, plus a lightly salted apple slice on the rim, make this summer sipper transform into fall in a glass.
